If you’re on maternity leave and fancy meeting up with some other mums for a drink and chat, then you’ll know just how much room is required for all your buggies etc. The Hen & Chicken is an ideal daytime meeting up spot, with plenty enough room to enjoy a sit down with your little ones and to stash your stuff away to prevent a fire hazard for others. The music is generally chilled, and kept to a low level, although it’s a little loud in the disabled toilet which doubles as the changing area (the key’s behind the bar, you’ll need to ask for it). Free parking on the local streets is also a bonus for cash-strapped parents surviving on SMP; whilst a pint of lime and soda will set up back a £1, so a cheap afternoon all round really. They even have cake – a must for a mums and babies gathering! (Not that I’ve indulged, still trying to shift that baby bulge...hmmmmm!)
