Ha! Ha! Bar & Canteen

Reviews for Ha! Ha! Bar & Canteen
The ha ha bar and canteen, at the pavilion buildings is always quite busy for drinks and what I would call bar food. It is as the address suggests very close to the wonderful pavilion its self and slightly off the main road, with a nice out door seating area. I only tried the food because I had a spend £10 get £10 free voucher so thought I would give it a try. Well the place is a pub more than a restaurant and so you do know that it is going to be average at beast. It was a nice enough place and we would go back for a drink but the food is not all that and there are similar places in town that offer better.
It's ok - on my last visit the menu wasn't as extensive as it used to be, and I wasn't too impressed with the food. I've only been a couple of times - and hadn't realised there had been a make-over. However, that would explain the changes I noticed.
I thought menu was very standard modern pub food, and wasn't particularly well executed. I will probably give it another go though - just in case that was a one-off!
Newly made-over, with a new menu and extensive wine list.
A funky, buzzy bar and restaurant. The staff are friendly and happy to advise.
I was there on a first date (Saturday Night) which went well, the portions were generous and the food was very good. Luckily we weren't in the mood for an intimate romantic night as it was very loud.
It was busy but you still felt the staff had time for you.
