My second visit to Due South today and it has kept it's score in my book.

The plaice was perfectly cooked and prepared to my liking on request ie filleted but the mash seemed more like smash.

The menu is a tad pretentious (nettle sorbet) and it's quite expensive but the quality is good.

The seating could have been more comfortable and it's a shame that there is only limited seating with the great sea view.

Our waitress was very nice and accommodating....

Recommended for a special occasion.

Due south is set in a good location with views of the sea and the waves rolling in. You can sit inside on a colder or rainy day, but when the day is fine it is nice to be able to sit there and watch the water and just relax, in terms of the view it cannot be faulted thats for sure.
The service is quite attentive too and the menus promise much and deliver some of what you think you are going to get and I guess that is better than nothing. I always feel rather cheated when in the uk we get charged for bread and butter, when if you go abroad, it is part of the deal that you get to munch on lovely local bread and its all in the cost of the meal. So here its a couple of pounds, not a lot. Twelve oysters her will set you back some. The duck is about £15 too, keep in mind its only the lunch menu so dinner will be more.

we went here for a family birthday - mixed views really, the building and location is wonderful and felt very holiday-like and they had very tasty local wine on offer

The food all sounded amazing but some was maybe a bit misplaced- the vegetarian options relied heavily on savoury icecreams including broad bean ice cream and parmesan ice cream - one might have been good but two was too much i would say

The main with oxtail chunks was really tasty, 10/10 for that, but the fish options promised a bit more than they delivered

not too impressed with the pudding options, apart from the G&T sorbet which was top quality; otherwise the pannacotta was a little bitter, and the chocolate pudding too overwhelming

On a sunny day, the outdoor terrace must be one of the best places to eat on Brighton seafront, and if its raining then there are a few tables inside which look out over the beach so you can enjoy your food while watching the waves crashing in.The menu is enticing with an emphasis on provenance - freshly caught fish, Sussex grown salads and local cheeses - this is reflected in the prices so it is definitely not a budget eat!

We went on valentines' and had a lovely time. We were meeted and greeted by the head waiter and walked to our table. Champagne was provided by a charming smiling waiter with nibbles.

The staff were charming and attentive without being intrusive. The food was lovely and carefully presented...The service was spot on. I did not feel rushed to eat but could savour and enjoy the wine and champagne.

The restaurant is one of the few Egon Ronay Awarded restaurants in Brighton with the majority of the food being provided by local suppliers. (Plus organic).

It was a lovely charming evening which allowed the customers to dine in a relaxed atmosphere with lovely staff.

One note if you have a healty appetite order a side order (the portions of the set valentines menu were perfect for me) but my date was a litle bit hungry later.

The posy of tulips given by the head waiter (or owner) was a finishing touch to a charming evening.

We will be visiting again :)
