I've always had a brilliant time here and loved the massive spreads they put on! Cakes, crumpets, sandwiches with the crusts cut off, salads, pastries, cream, jam, scones and lashings of tea! Not to mention the playing of music such as the music from Oliver! in the background. You could spend hours perusing the walls and cabinets...
Reviews for The Tea Cosy
This place is a great experience! Uber camp, hilarious etiquette rules (see website: http://www.theteacosy.co.uk/) and really warm and friendly owners.

I really hope this place is here to stay. I can't imagine Brighton without it. The jewel in the crown!
As Brighton is England's pink capital I wanted to find somewhere fairly unique to take my dutch friend out for afternoon tea. The Tea Cosy is a quaint tearoom off the beaten track that provides a unique atmosphere and a refreshing slant on afternoon tea.
The menu ranges from Elevensies which is crumpets or hot cross buns or soup with a pot of tea. The menu card then offers choices such as Tea Cosy Low tea being cake & tea, Duchies cream tea with jam, scones & cream. Then there are the high teas such as Lady Dianna Spencer, Princess of Wales, we will always miss you tea as well as Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth High Tea - these consist of some savouries as well such as smoked salmon sanwiches, welsh rarebit & the like.
There are various others even an Indian menu to suit. The ultimate Tea Cosy experience is the Julie Goodyear High Tea which is 7 courses for GBP12, this menu requires 2 or more.
We had the Duchies cream tea, 3 mini scones served with the homemade summer fruits jam and cream. The pots of tea are huge, also each pot is served with 3 teabags so if you prefer weak tea you may either wish to inform them or indeed take the teabags out once they have brewed to your liking.
The Tea Cosy is a gay friendly establishment run by a gay couple, a percentage of every cup of tea is donated to the Rockinghorse Childrens Charity.
The ambience of the tearoom is lovely it feels like you are in your very British grannys front room. They do do parties and special events
The Tea Cosy
It's a tiny little tea house tucked away off the beaten tourist track in the Hanover area of Brighton, run by a couple of young gay guys, with space for 16 guests seated. Kitch and as camp as they come!
The tea room is like stepping inside a memorabilia shop, like someone's front room, with an eclectic mixture of decor dedicated to the Royals, with Union Jacks ablaze, a grand piano and pictures of Diana adorning the walls.
The house rules are hilarious (not to be taken too seriously) ie no dunking of biscuits, no clanking of spoons when stirring your tea etc!
The menu is humorous, with items such as "The Duchies Cream Tea, Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth High Tea, The Lady Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales Afternoon Tea" and the unforgetable "The Julie Goodyear High Tea" (aka Corrie's Bet Lynch!) [you get the idea!)
It kind of epitomises Brighton's eclectic campness. Well worth a visit for a fun cream tea.
