Reviews for Melrose Restaurant
The Melrose is more of a proper fish restaurant compared to its neighbour, the Regency, which is best described as a fancy fish and chip restaurant. I'm sure it's owned by the same people and probably shares the same kitchen.
The restaurant is clean but rather old fashioned circa 1970/80.
I was disappointed in my starter - the king prawns in garlic sauce. Being unpeeled it was a messy affair peeling them whilst covered in slimy sauce.
The only grumble with the mains was the chips - I expected a better quality chip.
Desserts were excellent.
Portions were very good for all courses and the prices very reasonable. Service was friendly and efficient perhaps too efficient as there wasn't any digestion time between starters and main.
