You should go visit muang thai, the wonderful thai restaurant in st james street, in the kemptown area of brighton. The relaxed feel of the place only adds to the experience and you will be sure to enjoy a good meal here. Attention to detail is good and it is those small touches that make it feel special.
I have enjoyed the deep fried prawns & vegetables served with sauce and the chicken satay with peanut sauce from one of the set menus, which at around £18 is very good value for 2 people to eat together. The service is good and a night at muang thai will be worth the effort, it never fails to be good.

    Fragrant and delicious!

One of 2 of my favourite Thai restaurants in Brighton (the other is The King and I). The 2 meals I have had there have both been wonderful and from my experience of Thailand, the flavours are truly authentic. The way everything is presented is delightful…think a Thai version of Bills with bundles of lemongrass and bunches of coriander surrounding earthenware dishes shaped like ducks full of steaming and fragrant red Thai curry. I opted for the roasted duck in Thai red curry last time and it was so delicious with plenty of duck meat (not all fat like at Sawadee) and peppers and pineapple.
The tables could do with being a bit bigger as by the time you have a bottle of wine, a jug of water, glasses, dishes of curry, their lids, bowls of rice and your main plate…there is just no room! One small gripe is that on both occasions the service hasn’t been very attentive and we have spent an awkward amount of time trying to get the attention of a waiter. Having said that, the quality of food more than makes up for any shortfalls!

    Gorgeous food

I always get my food delivered so can't comment on the interior of Muang Thai. I was recommended this place by a friend of mine who has lived in Brighton for years.

The standard of food delivered from Muang Thai is outstanding. It really feels like you have had authentic Thai food delivered to your door.

The food is always piping hot when it arrives at the door and they deliver fairly quickly too.

Main courses start at about £4.95 (excluding rice) and starters are around the same price. To me, the prices seem very reasonable if you are sitting in but if you are having a take out £4.95 for Tom Yum Ga soup seems a bit excessive.

I will go there to eat in some day. I just need to get off the couch first!

Muang Thai is a great restaurant right in the middle of Kemptown in Brighton. The restaurant is great looking, last time I went it was painted brightly on the outside and kit out rather authentically inside. The staff are incredibly polite, I do not think there are many places where the service is as good as here. The presentation of all the food is fantastic, there’s flowers cut out of fruit on just about anything, flavoured ice creams in coconut shells and pineapple skins. The food itself is fantastic if you like your Thai food. Definitely go armed with plenty of cash though, as great as it is, it is pretty pricey, but well worth every single penny.

This place does stunning thai food. It is set in the wonderful kemptown in Brighton, and has a great atmosphere. It is lovely inside, with some areas where you sit on cushions on the floor, and some with pretty tables filled with chilis as decorations and glass tops. The food is absolutely wonderful and the staff are so lovely. It's definitely an authentic Thai experience and I would urge anybody to go there - even as someone who isn't keen on spicy food, it is so tasty that I don't care how hot it is! So definitely try it - it's quite expensive but as a treat you cannot fault it.
