Reviews for Casa
We visited Casa for the 3rd time for our sons 18th Birthday. He was very impressed with the setting, the food and especially the lovely waitress's. Since our visit i recommended it to my neighbour who came back with bad reports of rats & mice being around and it being dirty. We have never seen anything of the sort, considering where it is, i could understand it, It is certainly not dirty. The food is beautiful and very hot. The portions are plentiful and presented very well. Believe me, we eat out at many different places and would not re-visit if it was so bad. As for the owner, he's a star, polite, friendly and very chatty. Make your own mind up. DO NOT listen to bad reviews, everyones tastes are different, as are peoples standards!!! Visit yourselves and enjoy it all.
I agree with soscom. I have never ever heard a bad review about Casa. I have been to a wedding there and occasionally when it's warm may pop for a quick drink after work if the weather is nice.
My friend has her wedding booked at Casa in 3 weeks time, she found the review from lisa13242 and was absolutely devastated. If you are a competitor you should be massively ashamed of yourself!
Following the review I contacted my cousin who had his wedding there in Sept 08. He said it was so fantastic and really enjoyed it that he asked for a job! He was one of the chefs at Casa from Oct 08 to June 09 and only left for a better salary and to be closer to home. He confirmed that they had never ever had any complaints on a wedding day and that Jack the owner certainly wouldn't have sworn at anyone especially the bride's father. He confirmed that they take extra precaution to keep rats out as they are next to a lake (not rocket science is it???)
I also asked him about the parking ticket situation and yes they had had a few problems. The cars that get a ticket are the ones parked on the opposite side of the road when there are already cars parked on the same side as Casa causing an obstruction and only allowing single file traffic to get through. This isn't down to Casa this is down to the driver!
Anyway, rant over. I would like to confirm that I am not an employee of Casa and neither a regular. I just want to make a point that if you are looking at this venue for a function then visit it and make your own judgement but certainly do not believe lisa13242's review.
I Can’t understand the bad reviews that his place has had apart from I can only think they are from competitors trying to knock the place. Strangely they seem to be from people who have been there many times before (But keep going back) Why if its so poor do you keep going back then? Also one girl ate and supposedly got food poisoning and then booked a wedding reception which was a disaster. This all sounds a bit fishy to me. If I ate somewhere and got food poisoning I am dam sure not to book the most memorable day of my life where I am going to invite all of my friends and relatives to EAT. The truth is there is no better venue in West Yorkshire that can provide such fabulous lakeside views www.thecasahotel.com for photos. I’ve eaten there loads of times and always enjoyed my food and drinks in a friendly atmosphere and would like to recommend that you go and see the place for yourself and make your own judgment rather than its competitors.
We've been to Casa on many occasions purely for the scenery. The location is truly amazing and the owners have done a great job of kitting the place out. This, unfortunately is where the good comments end. The staff are clueless, the food is the worst we, and all our friends have ever had, the wine is cheap and nasty and the owner had a habit of trying to cram as many functions into one day as possible. We once went on a Friday afternoon and there were two funerals and a wedding all going on at the same time! There isn't adequate parking for one function never mind three! Going back to the food, we've probably complained about every meal we have ever had here. They describe their food on their website as 'traditional Italian food from experienced Italian chefs.' This is beyond laughable when they can't even cook dried pasta out of a bag and their pizza's taste like feet. I once ordered a moussaka and when it came it was lasagne without the pasta. The chef then claimed that he couldn't use 'British lamb' because it was too fatty?!! Not to mention the amount of people who have been ill after eating there. The place is a sham and it needs condemning!
Little wonder at the comments below. As at the time of writing Casa scores just 1 star in the local environmental health food rating scheme which is described as ‘Poor’ (Some non-compliance with food safety legislation - more effort required).
'Some non-compliance with food safety legislation', think that says it all really doesn't it!

funnily enough they don't display their certificate!
I went for a meal to the casa in brighouse, waited 1hr for the food to come and it was awful. the day after I was extremely ill, the doctor took some samples and when the results came back I had got food poisoning. I reported this to the environmental health department who investigated the restraunt. The reported back on there findings, they found 2 dead rats near where they keep food... My advice is to stay clear
The casa in brighouse is the worse venue for wedding functions. I have had my perfect wedding day ruined. We looked at the venue prior to booking and it seemed perfect with the lake views etc, but when the big day arrived as soon as we and the guests arrived at the casa. There was not sufficiant car parking and the guests had to park on the road, later in the day the guests all got parking tickets. The food was awfull and 2 guests sufferd from food poisioning, the final cost was twice as much as quoted, when the owner was challanged he told my farther who paid for the function to "Fu£* off". the gusets paid well over the odds for there drinks, 20 of our guests complained that the price of drinks varied throughout the day. The staff where all polish and got everything wrong. Please learn from our mistake and DO NOT USE THE CASA IN BRIGHOUSE
Casa is not only a restaurant, but a bar and hotel too, with stunning lakeside views that continue up the hilly countryside to the south.
The restaurant serves traditional Italian food, cooked by Italian chefs and served by Italian waiters. But wait a minute, don't let the title of this review put you off!
There's an extensive menu of tapas, starters, mains, pasta and pizza with a delicious desert menu to boot.
The service was a little slow when I visited and although the food was well cooked and appatising, not all of the staff were fluent in English, which doesn't help when you're asking what the ingredients of the seafood pizza are. My partner Sarah certainly wasn't expecting to see seahorses on there ;)
Well worth its four stars.
i'm loving the seahorse status. And italian stalians.

As you say it's not 'rocket science' but this place has scored only 1 star out of 5 in the local food hygiene inspection by environmental health. That's not even meeting the 'acceptable' standard. Now either they had a very bad day or they ain't taking it seriously.
Go to www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk and see the current hygiene results and which other local establishments take food hygiene seriously. You WILL be surprised.
IT everyone's right to eat where they want but its the restaurants right to provide food in an hygienic manner - I'm sure no one will disagree with that one.
