Reviews for Chez Cuddy
I am sorry, I do not agree with the other reviewer! Pleasant enough atmosphere but with such a short menu you have to do what you do really well. My chicken breast stuffed with black pudding was OK, but the stuffing was a bit soggy, my companions' steaks were shoe leather thin, though mercifully not quite so tough, and the vegetarian's risotto was decidely average: a small portion with even less aspargus. The chips, though, were fab! I had poached pear with meringue and chocolate sauce for dessert. The pears had no flavour and were so sweet I think they had been poached in a sugar solution, the sauce was merely a dribble of over sweetened goo and without any cream, none was offered, the whole was over sugared and very dry. Not at all nice, I'm afraid. The chocolate bread and butter pudding would have been a better choice, but not by much. I know things are tough these days but if you are going to do well you have cook well. I don't think we will be going back.
I have been several times last year. This is an unpretentious restaurant owned by the larger than life chef and his wife who escaped London for the quieter pace of Dorset. Lucky for the locals and visitors who decide to patronise Chez Cuddy. Many ex London clients have rediscovered the Chef and are regulars especially at week-ends so you may have to book then. But closed certain days so do check ...
I must go again soon!

The food was fantastic and, I recall, reasonably priced.
