Terrible food, terrible attitude, terrible pub! 18th July 2009

Zero stars (but unfortunately this site only allows 1 as the lowest rating).

4th bad meal in a row there. Why do we go back? Because it is now the only pub in walking distance that allows dogs. We will NOT be eating there again, however.

Tiny portions of meat. The last gammon steak was 2.5 inches by 3 inches at best. Tonight's corn on the cob was overcooked and only about a third of a cob. Coleslaw was listed as part of the meal and there may have been a desert spoon of it. Only just qualifies with the trade descriptions act by serving 2 onion rings (well the menu did say rings plural). Last time I ordered fish and chips there (the menu says freshly battered cod) it was a shaped frozen fish portion from an Iceland freezer cabinet.

We twice asked for the manager to come to our table to both see and discuss what we were served, but he was too busy. In the 45 minutes he avoided us he had to serve at most 3 customers at the bar.

Worst pub in Britain!!!

Ooops - nearly forgot. The peppercorn sauce for the steak (an extra cost item!) was gravy with a smattering of white powdered pepper in it! Seriously!

Friendly customers and bar staff.
Nice pub for locals and strangers alike.
Beer is good, Larger is nicely cold.
Food gets better all the time
