After moving to the area in October 2008, we initially struggled to find a Chinese that my wife and I both liked having only tried the establishments in the local town centre. Then one day we spotted The Cotton House having travelled in the opposite direction to usual and decided to give it a try.

As you enter the building, you immediately feel as though you have been transported in to an authentic Chinese or Thai restaurant. There is a bar and ample space to sit and have a drink while waiting for you table, which you might have to do if you don't book as The Cotton House is often very busy.

Each table is well laid out and spacious, not too close to other patrons, but not far enough away that you feel out of it.

The restaurant itself is good value, though perhaps slightly on the expensive side, but the portions are not only good quality but very large as well. Service is excellent with staff being very attentive.

The menu has a good range of traditional Chinese and Thai food, the satay (my wife's favourite) and chow mein (my favourite) being particularly good. Chinese beers available are Xing Tao bottles and Sun Lik on draft, as well as the usual UK bar selection. The house white is also excellent.

The Cotton House also has a take-out and delivery service. The delivery service is extremely quick. Even on Christmas Eve they still managed to get our meal to us within 30 minutes.
