Reviews for The Snackery
I would never go in this cafe again the staff are older than the brickwork the food is the cheapest brands it smells its old fashioned and degrades the upgrade of the newly refurbished waterloo road
I know I have shown myself to be a bit of a food snob in the past but if truth be known I do like a nice 'caff' Now I use the diminutive because this is not a 'cafe' its a caff! Its not in the most salubrious part of town and I worried about its imminent demise when the 'no smoking' in public buildings was going through parliment as 99,9% of the customers and I'd say all of the staff are smokers. I myself do not smoke -well I would'nt would I hailing from FY8 but it is testimony to the Snackery's cracing homemade Cheese n Onion pies and great coffe (Cona and they heat the milk under a steamer!)that had me going in faily regularly even though the only time I ever used me knife was to cut thru the smog. It is now 'smoke free' and better than ever-get along ther-you won' be disappointed!
i've been coming here for years, this is a decent cafe. its not expensive and first impressions may make you walk past but do pop in its worth it. they do a great selection of home made pies which are great washed down with a large cuppa. its nothing fancy inside but if you want a basic cafe with decent grub that doesn't cost the earth then this is a good place. the food is always hot and delivered quickly to your table. it can get busy but thats only because they dont rip you off on the prices. decent family run cafe give it a go.
I like this cafe. The service is great and the girls who run it are your traditional northern cafe women. The tea is excellent with large pots and reasonably priced and they make home made pies which are of high quality. There used to be a problem in that the snacks (ie. beans on toast, cheese on toast etc.) used to be served on only one slice of bread so it became riiculously dear if you asked for two but I think that has now been changed and two come as standard. I don't think I have ever had any bad food from this cafe although sometimes they can cut corners if they are busy. Recommended for reasonable prices and a top brew, go here if you want to sample some home made cooking.
