Nice city centre alternative to chain restaurants
I've been going to Chez Jules for quite a few years now and it's one of my favourite places to meet friends for lunch and a catch up.
It's just off New Street in Birmingham city centre. The exterior is attractive and inviting.
The staff have always been friendly when I've been there, and there's quite a few good looking waiters, which helps...
I always go for the set meal special offers, which are very good value. A two course lunch is £7.95, then an early dinner from 5 to 7pm is £10. There is a choice of about three main courses and starters.
I especially like the dauphnoise potatoes, they are so creamy. The portions are a generous size. I usually have fish or chicken, and it's lovely. No-one has ever complained about the food and we've all been pleased.
Chez Jules has a good selection of wines on offer.
The only criticism I can make is that the wooden benches are not very comfortable. But I keep coming back here and have been here for birthday meals and special occasions.
It's nice to have somewhere to go that is a local independent place with atmosphere rather than a chain.
