Reviews for The Glee Club

Have been here many times over the last ten years with my wife or in bigger birthday groups and always had a brilliant time. You get to see all the very top names in comedy world that normally only play arenas.
Its not the cheapest place to go out but that tends to keep out the chav element and leery stags and hen groups you get over on broad st. All the seats face the stage and every couple get thier own table unlike its down-market competitor Jongleurs.
Great staff. great food! This place has class in bucket fulls!

The Glee Club is a fantastic venue for both comedy and live music – have been to see both here, and both work well in the venue’s two rooms. The Studio, the smaller room, hosts lots of live bands and artists, usually playing acoustic sets which are brilliant in such an intimate setting. There are also late night comedy shows in the Studio, after the main show in the larger room. The main room hosts the comedy shows, and depending on the event, seating is allocated or you can sit where you like. It’s well worth going on for the Thursday night food special (£14), as the grub is decent and the acts are always of a high quality, even when you don’t recognise the names.

I've been to the Glee club a few times and have a mixed opinion.

It's quite a good night out, but expensive, and there are a number of things I don't like about it.

It costs about £12-£15 for a show at the weekend. It's easy to book online.

You have to turn up by 8pm, which is irritating as the show doesn't start for ages. This is clearly a ploy to get you buying all your drinks at their bar rather than going somewhere cheaper.

I like to drink wine, and a bottle of not very nice Australian plonk is £13 there. I don't mind paying £13 for something nice, but it tasted like £2 Asda own brand.

It's extremely hot in the club, which I find quite unbearable. They really need to get air conditioning.

The sound system is another problem. Before the show starts, this very loud and screechy voice keeps reminding everyone that there are "Five minutes to go", "Two minutes to go"....it's not nice when you're having a chat and that sound makes you want to put your hands over your ears.

The comedy is a bit hit and miss. I've seen some very funny comedians there but also some dodgy ones, with jokes about Muslims, peodophiles, and ones who think taking all their clothes off is simply hilarious. I guess it's a matter of taste.

The Glee Club is popular with stag nights and most people look happy.

I think it's a good night out as long as you don't mind shelling out for drinks - everything's funnier when you're drunk.

Had a fab night out when we came here. We'd been bought tickets for a comedy show as a present and didn't really know what to expect. The atmosphere inside the venue was great and the comedians were hilarious - i cried with laughter throughout. We sat on the front row (we were feeling brave) and became subject to quite a few jokes during the show. The beer was good as well as the food which kept us going. There were 3 comics on the bill altogether plus the warm up guy which kept us entertained for a couple of hours. Once completed exhausted from the laughing, a rather cheesy disco starts up which is good if you fancy giggling some more!

Must say this is a very good venue, went for my 21st and couldn't of asked for more. Great interaction with the crowd, good food and reasonable drinks prices. Very close to bars for post drinks.
