Reviews for The Dome - CLOSED
This was one of the nightspots in birmingham city centre for much of the 1980s and 1990s and the early 2000s. The place was huge and sometimes had the feeling of a rave when the place was packed out at student nights on monday.
The location was not the best but it did seem to attract lots of people and it was the first experience of night clubs for me and my friends. They had a stage and used to have bands and z-list celebs come, plus the usual holiday rep type games involving members of the audience, i miss that and clubs these days don't seem to put the same amount of effort into entertaining thier clubbing customers, shame really.
Aw well i still of the memories of this fine establishment and they will always be there.
I know its closed down and I still sort of miss it as it was one of the first clubs I went to.
Yes, I know its had its ups and downs, though some people might say more ups than downs, but I loved it in its day. Yes, many of times I'm sure we had people come up to us trying to sell us something illegal but thats what it was like. It had a massive dance floor where we used to dance the night away. Then it closed down for a while and reopened as The Dome II. I then started going there every thursday as it was student night and drinks were little cheaper and we all used to have great laugh.
Then it changed its name back to The Dome and I didn't enjoy it there as much as i used to. Was i gettin too old? lol! Still, shame it closed down but I suppose they used to get their fare share of trouble as does most clubs in Birmingham.
this place is closed down
This clubs is closed down now, but has be brought by the birmingham academy to replace the old one, looks a promising venue.
