    The Pitcher (and Piano)

Part of popular Brindley Place by the canal, the Pitcher is one of my favourite bars. This is because the people are neither rich nor poor and the attitude is about right.
Playlist is good, modern tracks unlike some other bars playing the same old music.
The venue is two floors, and very busy early evening. By midnight the patrons have moved on, but you can still have fun here later on.
It’s a kind of “thru bar” in that people come through on their way to or from Brindley Place, so you meet some interesting people.
Cocktails could improve, not impressed with sticky glass..

Pitcher & Piano is one of a chain, but this is the only one I have been to. It is a stylish, professional bar with a really nice atmosphere, overlooking the canal. A bit of a walk from the station is worth it to drink here, where they have a selection of cocktails, wines and bottled beers. I think there were some beers on tap too, but I wasn't drinking them! Another good thing was the waiting time at the bar, I didn't ever have to wait too long, even if the bar was relatively busy. The only thing was, and I may be blind, but I didn't see any pianos...

    Great bar

Situated in Brindley Place, overlooking the canal, it is right in the centre of Broad Street.
As one of the Pitcher and Piano chain, people know what to expect when they arrive here.. an extensive list of relatively pricey (but excellent) cocktails, and a smart, trendy venue.
It plays the latest music, and has a friendly and lively atmosphere.
It is absolutely crammed on the weekends with a crowd of 20-40 year old professionals.. and has incredibly attractive bar staff.. with incredible cocktail-making skills!
It's great fun and worth a visit, partially for the atmosphere, and partially for the cocktails!

A good example of the P&P chain

Pitcher and Piano have been going for a while, and have many other bars in cities over the country, and this canal-side venue is not a disappointment. The area in which it is located is pleasing - the canal area is nicely lit up at night, and there are several water features to the eye entertained. This puts you in a good mood for a posh drink, which P&P provide well. It is a bit expensive, but there is a good selection of drinks available. The clientelle is mainly young professionals (especially during the nights of the weekend) and can get quite busy, but during the week there is a more mature customer base and a more relaxed atmosphere. It's a smart venue with good lighting, comfortable seating, and good service.
