    Rock 'n' Roll

I've been here only a few times but I really enjoyed it both times. The location is great, right in the heart of Birmingham. Therefore, it is easily accessable from the surrounding areas of Birmingham.

On a saturday you have to pay 3 pound to get in, but as most places charge over a fiver this is not too bad. This is more of a bar/pub than a club but I find it more entertaining than the local rock clubs. For instance one Saturday night me and some friends went to Subculture up the road, but the night in there was rubbish so we left early and went to Subside and had a great night. It was a Saturday so the place was open till about 6 in the morning! The atmosphere was great, especially outdoors where there are lots of benches, and music playing all night. The music there is fantastic, beating all the other local rock places hands down. If you like your nineties rock, Pearl Jam, RATM, etc i'm sure you'll love it!

    Excellent Rock/Altern. Bar

Excellent alternative/rock/metal bar, right in the centre of Birmingham- just a short walk from Broad Street. The bar staff are always friendly and often up for a chat. There's always a friendly atmosphere and the music is second to none.
It plays all the tunes you'd expect a rock bar to play, from modern, to the classics. On certain nights you can even request a song every time you buy a drink.
They also have fantastic drinks promotions, offering some of the cheapest prices around on double spirits + mixers and pints.
A great place for a rock music lover.

    Good alternative bar

This bar is run by the people who organise the Subculture club night at the academy, and as such shares the leaning towards rock and grunge genre of entertainment. The bar is well laid out and covers two floors, with two bars (although only one is normally open). The atmosphere is relaxed end enjoyable, and there are sofas, as well as tables and chairs. The drinks are not exceptionally expensive, and there are often drink promotions to help get you in the party-ing mood. It is excellent as a pre-bar for snobs (right opposite) or subs (perfect atmosphere and tunes). It is open until late on club nights (6am), so if you want to keep partying the option is there.
On one night a week they open the decks and when you buy a drink, you can choose a song to play, which they add to the playlist! Fantastic idea, and they have many songs to cater for your demand!
