I have eaten in Flicks a few times now and to be honest I'm not overly impressed. The last time was last night - for a quick meal before my friend and I went to the cinema. The decor is great and this restaurant does cater well for children. I always do find it a bit cold. The staff are ok, not impolite but not overly friendly either. My meal was slightly disappointing and this isn't the first meal I have had in this restaurant that I haven't been overly pleased with. The chicken was overcooked, the pepper sauce was rather runny and it was not overly pretty to look at either. All in I found it a little expensive for the quality of the food. I don' think I wil return - perhaps the rule of third time lucky doesn't always work. It is nice for Yorkgate to have an alternative to "Fast" food but I think in future I will eat at home.

A trip to 'Flicks' before going to the Flicks 25th October 2008

As a treat for our daughter before the cinema, my girlfriend and I decided that the three of us should go for something to eat. As we wanted to avoid the fast food outlets, we decided to go to Flicks and we weren't disappointed.
The decor is film orientated (hence the name) with framed posters of well known films, along with wide screen TV's showing kids films to keep the kids entertained. The atmosphere is cosy and the service is good and friendly.
There is a good variety of food to choose from and the kids menu is decent. The portions are very resonable for the price and would definitely go back again.
This place is worth trying for families or couples if they want a decent meal before going to the cinema and adds to the enjoyment of a night out.
