We went to Mello last Saturday for an anniversary celebration, after my girlfriend went there with her cousin and returned raving about it.

The food was excellent (I loved the scallops with smoked haddock fishcakes - absolutely beautiful, while my girlfriend opted for the white onion soup, which was incredibly tasty). We both went for the beef which was excellent - the portions weren't small either! The house wine (white) was smooth...and rather moreish - can't remember what it was called, but it was French and bottled in 2007. The espresso was again lovely and smooth, one of the best I have ever had - but then I don't claim to be an expert!

Service was excellent, with someone always being on hand without being intrusive. We were allowed to take our time and noticed that we had plenty of space for privacy -did look a bit like a hotel though.

The bill wasn't small, but it was worth it and we did go the whole hog. We're both looking forward to going there again for another celebration.

All in all excellent.

I saw an earlier review of mello and thought, what the hell, i may as well take a drive with my other half and suprise her with dinner.

So off we went, her not suspecting a thing. I can honestly say, we had one of the best evenings ever, and its all thanks to the staff at mello.

They are so friendly and helpful! Never been somewhere that the staff are so nice!

The food is absolutey mouth wateringly fantastic. Their chef must have either decended from heaven or sold his soul to the devil. Doesn't matter which, because the food is absolutely delicious!

Its not cheap, but you are getting a good quality meal in a place which has a fantastic atmosphere so you can't complain!

I absolutley love this restaurant! My husband and I eat at The Ivy in Covent Garden last night (Mon 4 Aug 2008) with David Walliams!!! We left the restaurant and both agreed that we'd had better, The Ivy is over rated and over priced. Mello's still tops it for us!! We love the quality food, the quality service and personable atmosphere. I have booked a table and can't wait to eat there in a couple of nights! i can taste the Duck already!!! Mello here we come!!!!

Celebrated my birthday last night at Mello have been once before. On both occasions it has been outstanding. The food is fantastic, the service is excellent. The restaurant is very well laid out tables with plenty of room around them. No rushing a lovely ambiance. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I eat out a few times a week have been to quite a few celeb chefs resturants in the UK & worldwide this restaurant can certainly hold it's own to any.
