This is an absolutely magical place. Its near the village I grew up in and I have been taking people here for years. The pub is one of the oldest in the country and was used by Judge Jeffries I think at the time of the Monmouth rebellion in the 1680s and when you are sat in the small cobbled courtyard you can imagine yourself back in the 17th century. I've not eaten here or stayed even though the place has a restaurant and rooms but the point of going here is to use it as a pub. The main bar is just a big wooden table. You couldnt find anything more removed from modern Britain - and this of course is its great charm. A wonderful place -do go if you even remotely in the area.
