Abbey ChurchyardRoman Baths & Pump Room, Bath, BA1 1LY

The Roman Baths were built around 65AD to provide bathing and leisure facilities within the complex of a majestic temple which was dedicated to the Roman goddess of healing, Minerva. The hot springs actually began with the rain coming down on the Mendip Hills soaking into the ground then rising up hot and bubbling. They are split into three separate baths, The King's Bath, the Grand Central Bath and the Queen's Bath. The water passed through these three baths, cooling as it went.

Reviews for The Roman Baths

You can't go to bath and not visit the roman baths, they are an excellent day out. They are very historical and also quite interesting. There is a lot of information inside about the roman baths either on the headphones or on text dotted around the exhibits. It is great for all the family. The actual baths themselves are great; it is fascinating to see something like that in the UK! It is actually quite tempting to touch the water but you are not allowed! There are shops around so you could go shopping if you wanted after you visit.

The Roman Baths are well worth visiting if you take a trip to Bath. The baths are in the centre of town so why not pop in to break up your shopping trip!

Includes a magnificent Roman Temple and spring and there are notice boards throughout the site to provide an information about each section of the baths. you can also use the headsets as you go around which provide a "guided" tour without the guide so you can travel around at your own pace. Excellent insight into Roman history in bath and shop at the end of the site is also very interesting where you can pick up some souvenirs of your trip.
