London Road, Aston Clinton, Aylesbury, HP22 5HP

Another very good gastro type pub out in the country, but in reality next to a main road into Aston Clinton.

The outside is very pretty and appealing and the interior is very quirky.

Very low ceilings with loads of old oak beams exposed everywhere, both horizontally across the roof and vertically dividing the various rooms up into smaller alcoves.

Food is a speciality where you place your order and then get one of their funny little numbered wooden spoons...

Food is a speciality where you place your order and then get one of their funny little numbered wooden spoons to display prominently on your table so they know where to bring your order to, or eat your dinner with as we tried to tell my kids.

They wouldn’t believe us.

Portions are large and I was merrily defeated by their beef burger in a bun with a mountain of chips and salad garnish.

The Duck in is perfect for an weekday lunch with the kids. Loads of space and separate rooms for dining. So it's easy to choose a spot where you are out of the way. Good child and adult menu. My only criticisms are that the kids menus are not on the tables and have to be requested at the bar and that the quality of the food can vary at times. Having said that it is always of an acceptable standard. Staff are friendly and accommodating and everywhere is clean and pleasant. Small courtyard garden for dining al fresco. Particularly recommend the Salmon and Broccoli Fishcakes.

We like it here. It is part of the Innkeeper's Lodge Vintage Hotel chain. Lots of interesting little rooms, quite dark. Don't know what the hotel is like but the restaurant/pub is very good. Decent food, good but not great, and a beer garden. A lovely looking building with lots of lovely flowers.
