Books and Beans sell homemade soups, sandwiches, salads and panini as well as a range of excellent Fair Trade Coffee, Teas and Hot Chocolate. The atmosphere’s friendly and relaxed and you can choose to either stay in the main coffee area downstairs for your lunch or head upstairs to the main Bookstore, where you can browse our 15000 titles, or indeed munch your Soup and Sandwiches. We are also Aberdeen's biggest and best Internet Cafe, with a total of 18pc's on offer starting from 8am.

For an independent shop, this second hand bookshop-cum-coffee house is a refreshing change from the usual coffee chains. A coffee shop on the ground with two floors of books above, you are invited to relax anywhere on the premises. With outdoor seating for the warmer weather, this place boasts a generous capacity which is sorely needed at the weekend, but in peak times seating is reserved for those who order more than just a coffee. Takeaway coffee is an option for people in a hurry, and soup, sandwiches and paninis are available for lunch. The tray bakes are delicious and conveniently Books & Beans features in the Spree Book with deals on hot drinks and food. This coffee shop is one that really should be tried to be believed.

It took a visitor from Denmark to find this one for me, but now it's my favourite place to stop for a bite to eat at lunchtime/afternoon. Lovely soups, a good range of sandwiches, plus fair trade teas/coffees. Friendly staff, Very casual, you can read the books while you wait for your food. Highly recommended!

Just love this place. Very busy over lunchtimes. Friendly staff, comfy seating, (if you can get in!). If there's a queue, it's worth the wait. try some of their unusual soups too, (Courgette and Coconut or haggis, Neep and tattie Soup!)
