Reviews for The Empire Cafe
I was in the area when I found The Empire Cafe. They told me it was new so I thought I would try it and I'm glad I did. The waitress recommended the quesadillas which I really enjoyed. The cafe is friendly and relaxed and it was a nice place to go for lunch and a drink.
Just opened, The Empire Cafe is a welcome addition to Tel Aviv.
Describing itself as a vegetarian diner with Chutzpah, the cafe is run by a crew of American Israelis, offering friendly, efficient service in Hebrew and English, a warm welcome, and a great selection of breakfasts, main dishes and desserts. Have been on two occasions, one lively evening and one laid back brunch. Food is fresh and full of flavour with good quality local ingredients. I can recommend their excellent classic Shakshuka, tasty Vietmamese style spring rolls and delicious sweet potato pie. The Empire Cafe mixes Middle Eastern influences with selections more familiar to European and US palates, plus some other great dishes thrown in. Plus there's level of friendliness and service that you'd expect to find in the States, which means that these guys deserve to be on to a winner.
The Empire Cafe is located excellently for those on business in the vicinity. It's a bus ride away from the tourist areas and the beach, but it's worth making the effort to visit. Return visits are a certainty.
