Reviews for Baseler Eck
Baseler Eck - Frankfurt - we ate at this restaurant on March 24th and April 9th and enjoyed the great German "home-cooked" meals. We had a particularly good time on April 9th when we ate in the back room with a bunch of United Airline flight crew members who obviously enjoyed each other's company off the job as well as on the job. They included us in the conversation and we had a rollicking good time. A bit noisy but good food, good fun. No wonder people are willing to wait to get served when the place is so busy.
I have traveled around the world and I was told about Baseler Eck by a friend. I like German food, and while I was in Frankfurt I thought I would check it out. I go there early with some friends and they were not yet serving food. The owner, spoke english and allowed us in to have a few pints. He was a very nice fellow and made us all the more welcome. We made reservations to come back later that evening. What an incredible experience. The food was fantastic and we had one hell of a good time. My only regret was not having more room to consume more food! Highly recommended for good authentic German food. Its where the locals eat!
I have been going to Frankfurt since 1986 doing trade shows and for Fun travel. There is a reason why you will always find Airline pilots and flight Attendants dining at Baseler Eck. THE FOOD is Home made and delicious. It's a Well kept secret with airline staff. Last year some friends wanted to go to Italy and I told them the ONLY way i would go is if we went to Frankfurt for Dinner, then left the next morning and took the trains to italy. I talked 5 people into joining me and they all said,, IT WAS THE BEST MEAL they had ever had. It has a family Atmosphere, Is ALWAYS full , so come early, and plan on a Great evening of fun, good Food and meeting new friends from all over the world.... P.S. Sometimes you might have to wait for an hour,, but go to the bar and wait,, it's worth it
After a very early start that morning, and a day of sight-seeing, on our first night in Frankfurt we didn't want to venture too far from our hotel for dinner. We came across a busy place located just around the corner from our hotel, called Baseler Eck. The restaurant was full of content looking people, and we were pleased when they were able to fit us in. We did however have to share a table with two other people who spent the time laughing at us every time I took a photo of our food.
Service was pretty abrupt, though they were busy, and we seemed to be pretty much the only non-German speaking people in the restaurant. To eat I just had a Veal Schnitzel with potatoes, and Alex had Veal steak with mushrooms and pasta. The food was entirely edible, though nothing amazing.
I liked the lively atmosphere of the place though, and loved the wall that was filled with stickers - including now defunct airlines, and Smurfette, amongst others.
