Fine dining for special occasions
This restaurant is well known among the locals for excellent dining. Make sure to reserve a table on weekends! On Mother's Day the family and me went there by car w/o reservation and we almost didn't get a table.
The hotel has a charming setting in a green valley in the outskirts of the city. The building from the 19th century was originally a pasta factory. It's beautifully restored and transformed into a small and charming hotel with restaurant.
The staff was very attentive, friendly, quick, not in the slightest snobby.
First we got a 'greeting from the kitchen' - home made egg salad with dark bread and butter - delicious. Then we had a green salad with grilled pieces of paprika, filled with ricotta, in a tzatziki sauce. Yummy! The green salad was not just plain lettuce and what you usually get - they had added some really tasty - almost spicey - stuff.
Main course was Argentinian beef steak with pasta (filled with ricotta) and French beans. I had ordered my steak medium and it was perfect. My parents liked their steak well done and it was exactly right for them, too.
We had a red house wine from Sicily (a Salice Salentino) which was excellent.
The bill came to 80 Euro with tip, which was okay I thought. I'd eat there anytime again, preferrably on a weekday when it is a bit quieter.
