Culinary globalisation in Berlin Mitte
The "white castle" (= shiro i shiro) in Berlin-Mitte is best described as globalisation for taste buds and is a perfect example of Berlin's new modern and trendy restaurant scene. Boasting a wide range of dishes inspired by a fusion of japanese-french-mediterranean cuisine, prepare to be surprised by the contemporary constellations that await you. While some of the combinations may seem out of place at first, rest assured that you'll enjoy every single bite.
Much like the food itself, the interior design takes some getting used to. Kept almost entirely in a sterile white with accasional touches of blue, opinions are bound to be split as to whether it's simply "too much" or absolutely "dazzling". Unfortunately most of the restaurant only has long endless tables, which can be off-putting for people who don't enjoy sitting at a table with dozends of people they don't know. However, small "booth-like" séparées are available for anyone who prefers a little privacy.
While "shiro i shiro" tries to be elegant, it is neither pretentious or snobby. Prices vary from good value to somewhat pricey, yet stay within the price range which seems appropriate for an excellent restaurant in Berlin.
