Think of Wimbledon and sport inevitably springs to mind. The giant slaying 1988 FA Cup winners and a rather famous Tennis Tournament have done much to put Wimbledon on the map. The area itself, however, is equally thriving. Recently voted the most desirable place to rent in, aspects of London are blended with countryside traits to create an ideal suburb. The home of the Wombles, the vast and beautiful Wimbledon Common provides a glimpse of country life. The Buddhapadipa Temple is a hidden gem, crafted to beautiful perfection and set in stunning monastic gardens. Wimbledon Village meanwhile, semi rural and thus quite different to your usual shopping centre, sees independent boutiques dominate. The restaurants cater for every taste; even organic only and if eating out does not take your fancy then the traditional delis are great for something to take away. By night, a more London-esque atmosphere is evident through trendy wine bars but the overall suburban spirit still prevails.
