Vama has an informal Mediterranean cafe feel to it, which is carried through to the food, despite the fact that it is Indian. The dishes on offer are modern and adventurous and are not the traditional heavy curries you might expect. Private parties of up to 150 people can be accommodated. A takeaway and delivery service is also available.

The 606 Jazz Club has existed as a Jazz Club restaurant for more than 25 years and has a relaxed, informal atmosphere. The club is currently licensed for 165 people. Due to their licensing restrictions they only serve alcohol to non-members with a substantial meal. Half a bottle of wine is included in the price of the meal. Booking is definitely advisable.

Chutney Mary offers a wide variety of traditional regional and Anglo-Indian dishes served in colonial surroundings. Its regular regional food festivals keep a loyal clientele coming back to sample the more obscure corners of Indian cuisine. It has an eclectic wine list and a buffet on Sundays which is served alongside live music. They can cater for private parties of up to 24 people and provide outside seating in the garden. A takeaway and delivery option is also available.

With its rather unusual decor, The Painted Heron serves a variety of authentic Indian dishes some of which are unique including venison with peppers and seafood kedgeree. As the name suggests, this restaurant Vingt Quatre is open 24 hours a day. The menu offers a mixture of proper restaurant food (mainly served before midnight) and things you can eat at any time of the day or night, including beans on toast, eggs Benedict and hot chocolate. On Friday and Saturday nights it can get very busy so you may have to queue. The restaurant also has a non smoking area and outside seating is provided on the pavement.
