The Statue of Eros, officially the Angel of Christian Charity, is a memorial drinking fountain erected in 1892 to the philanthropist, Lord Shaftesbury.

Speaker's Corner was first introduced in 1866 after the riots of 1855 where a staggering 250,000 people gathered to protest against the Sunday trading bill. It was once an entertaining and peculiarly English tradition and still today a whole range of different speakers descend here every Sunday. It is situated in the top right hand corner of Hyde Park opposite Marble Arch. Many famous figures have spoken and aired their views including Karl Marx, Lenin, William Morris, George Orwell and Lord Soper.
