Hammersmith is probably most famous for the now defunct, Hammersmith Palais, the venue being forever immortalized in the Clash song "White Man in the Hammersmith Palais".     Following the fire that gutted it in 2005, The Havelock Tavern is now open again, offering an inspired selection of modern, reasonably priced dishes which change daily, in a relaxed yet busy atmosphere. It looks like it is immediately back to its old self - so that means arriving early to bags a table to avoid disappointment. They also have a carefully assembled wine list with a choice of eight by the glass.
