Golders Green is one of those places with a marmite effect: you either love or hate it. The area has a village-like ambience as leafy attractions such as Golders Hill Park and coffee shops take centre stage over pulsating clubs and fashionable wine bars. Its strong Jewish and indeed multinational population is reflected within the restaurants of Golders Green Road which cater for tastes ranging from Kosher to Turkish and Japanese. A sprinkling of bars, including the White Swan provide a taster of nightlife, however the main form of socialising is interestingly a coffee culture with a number of these shops having late night licenses. Quiet and peaceful, especially on Saturdays, Golders Green is not for those wanting non stop entertainment on their doorstep. Yet with excellent transport links meaning the vibrancy of Central London and the trendiness of Hampstead are never far away, it can offer something close to the best of both worlds.
