Bayswater is one of Londons most multicultural districts, housing within its bounds large communities of Arabs, Americans and Greeks. Situated a short distance from Hyde Park, the area inevitably has a very cosmopolitan atmosphere to it and with one of the largest concentration of hotels in London, there is also a large tourist population to cater for. At its heart is Queensway which has an extensive selection of restaurants in which the above factors are clearly reflected. Offerings vary from chain brand 'fast and basic' meals to independent eateries serving up more delicately prepared Lebanese and Oriental dishes. On the bar front, the North American influence shines through; Cherry Jam and Harlem both offer funky cocktails in trendy surroundings. Although the area itself is always lively and buzzing, other forms of nightlife are not fantastic but with Westbourne Grove only standing between Bayswater and Notting Hill that is hardly a problem.
