Rather, its community is brimming with young Antipodeans; backpackers, students and established residents who are taking advantage of its central position yet cheap rents to inhabit what surely will soon become known as ‘little Australia.’ An impressive number of bars and pubs line the Acton streets; some traditional, a number serving fantastic home cooked food and a lot with a fittingly international theme. The Redback, open to 3am and always buzzing, has apparently been spoken about on the other side of the Equator. Acton’s main downside is the lack of late night entertainment; aside from the above, everywhere pretty much shuts down at 11. Its best part? The restaurants. From the ridiculously generous portions at Dragon King Oriental Buffet to Rasputin’s mouth-watering Russian wonders, you can discover that cheap doesn’t always mean cheerful.
