Edinburgh is fantastically diverse. The Scottish capital, Britain's second most popular tourist attraction after London, offers two different worlds to its visitors. One is a rich cultural experience, created by the Old Town where Edinburgh Castle leads a picturesque skyline and rocky crags, medieval lanes and various museums all add to its enchanting charm. The other sees Edinburgh transform into a centre of modern vibrancy- home of an international festival, shops range from the ludicrously expensive to the fabulously unique and the bars from traditional to trendy. With apparently the largest number of restaurants per person in the population throughout Europe, you can ensure your taste buds are tantalised with an array of international flavours. And along its outskirts are the relaxing Lothian's, complete with stretching beaches and famous golf courses. Lively and cosmopolitan yet with the deepest of historically fascinating roots, taking a trip here is a really enriching experience, if only to see whether Robert Louis Stevenson was correct in his assessment that "Edinburgh is what Paris ought to be".
