TrustedPlaces Event at The Kitchen, Parson’s Green

What a great night we had at The Kitchen last night. We had a cooking event for users and bloggers, 12 of us went along, and prepared four meals for one to bring home to cook.

Some background on The Kitchen for those of you that may not know it. The Kitchen is a new concept, already well established in the US, a place where you order meals on-line, where the food is bought and prepared for you, and all you have to do was go in-store and make it, and then take it home to cook it. No preparation and no wash up? Surely that’s perfect! Run by Thierry and Natalie, a great team who combine Thierry’s vast kitchen experience and Michelin starred knowledge with Natalie’s passion for good food and business expertise. They’re extremely passionate about their produce too, and source only the very best and locally where possible.

It’s a really lovely space, bright and inviting on an Autumn evening. We started the evening with a lovely glass of wine and then progressed to the cooking area down the back. Another lovely space with a large table set with our aprons, chopping boards and utensils. And we started. It was so much fun, really sociable and entertaining with Thierry and his sous chef always on hand to dig us out of any culinary scrapes we found ourselves in. Although there was no rescuing Lolly’s square samosas, even though I am sure they tasted gorgeous. Maybe that’s the way of the future? Square samosas!

So who was there and what did we make? Chrisp, Alexthepink, Su-lin, FoodStories, Bron99, Tom, hollowlegs, Melanie, Lea, Lolly, terryturbojr and me (Niamheen - TrustedPlaces Community Manager). The choice was fantastic and we really struggled, but were very happy with the results. I , for one, can recommend the salmon teriyaki, yum! I am very much looking forward to trying my veal saltimbocca, samosas and organic angus beefburgers. The chicken cordon bleu and fish cakes were very popular also. There’s a great roundup of the photos in our TrustedPlaces Flickr pool. Take a look!

Thanks to everyone at The Kitchen for a wonderful evening, it really was superb. Thanks also to all the lovely users who came along and made it that bit better. How did your meals go? We want to know! Tell us, leave a comment :-)

Really enjoyed the night - weren’t they brilliant to treat us to such a great evening? Have to say you won’t be disappointed with the veal - it’s a lovely herby, lemony, delicate meaty morsel. Mine was gone in an instant. I figured it was the quickest to cook when I got in.

Anyone looking for help to create a brilliant dinner at home should seriously consider the Kitchen. The quality of their ingredients, the simplicity of their approach and the great food you get to take home and cook will guarantee a good night.

    Cheers for taking me!

My square samosas tasted gorgeous. I am planning on patenting the shape and will make a small fortune! I more than happy to teach Thierry and Trusted Places readers, how to make them :)
