Did I mention the free wine?

Yes, free wine, that’s correct. And food. And poetry. Last week, TrustedPlaces members were treated to a wonderful evening courtesy of Felix Dennis when we were offered some places for the booked out first stage of the London leg of his poetry tour, Did I mention the free wine?
Felix Dennis? Who’s he? A poet, a publisher, a tree planter, famed for blurting out the rudest word in the English language for the first time on British television, enduring the longest conspiracy trial in British history at the Old Bailey and recording a single with John Lennon. That’s just the tip of it. Felix started writing poetry following a life threatening illness and has established himself as one of the most popular and critically acclaimed poets of recent times. This tour accompanies the publication of his fifth collection of original verse, Homeless in My Heart.
Back to the event! Taking place in the Shaw Theatre, the evening started at 7pm with some very good wines (sponsored by The Week Wine Club - my personal favourite was the Margaux Bordeaux 2004) and canapes. At 8pm the poetry reading began, Felix is enormously entertaining and full of joie de vivre, it was really enjoyable. More wine at the interval followed by the conclusion of the evening with the second half.
We had a mix of TrustedPlaces users there and everyone really enjoyed themselves, there was plenty of laughter and it was a great night. So much so in fact, that we’ve lined up a second lot of tickets for the Shaw Theatre on October 17th. Email niamh@trustedplaces.com if you’d like to be there. We’d love to meet you!

I hate poetry but went along for the free wine. To my shock and pleasant surprise this turned into one of the best nights out ever. Felix is very funny talented if a little egotistical but generous with his wine ps nether knew a buffet could look so posh! DO NOT PASS UP THE OPPORTUNTIY TO GO.
