Laura Meets : James Whatley
The big day has been and gone - Food 2.0: Nom Nom Nom took place on Sunday 18th May and was a resounding success. We’ll be bringing you more about that very soon, but in the meantime here’s an interview I did with James Whatley last week. Not only is he Chief Blogger for Spinvox - a clever company that captures spoken messages and converts them in to text - he writes his own blog, co-writes a comedy blog with his friend Roger, contributes to SMS Text News and can fix any Nokia mobile phone at ten paces. Oh, and he stuffed peppers and baked ice cream for Nom Nom Nom - truly the sign of a modern man.
Interview Notes:
00:10 Our interview took place outside the Coach & Horses in Greek Street during the Social Media Cafe, a weekly networking event held on Friday mornings.
02:21 The Nom Nom Nom participants sourced most of their ingredients from Marylebone Farmer’s Market.
02:52 Some of the platforms James used to record the day include Twitter, Jaiku, Qik and You Tube.
04:42 The team who won on the day just happen to include Julia Parsons, recently TrustedPlaces interviewee!
08:17 James’ TrustedPlaces include 5th View Bar & Food (see our cocktail shaking video and interview here), Kensington Gardens and outdoor performances at the National Theatre.
09:02 For a date, try Priory House.
09:10 For a chilled night out with friends try The Couch in town, or The Prince Blucher in Twickenham.
09:32 Another place for dates is The Electric Cinema.
James was a bit coy about his favourite blogs in front of the camera but kindly furnished me with a list. The comments are his own:
Mobile Stuff
SMS Text News - for daily news
iGadget Life - for in depth reviews
Nokia Users - for good Nokia focused content
Darla Mack - for a different viewpoint
Symbian Guru - a good friend of mine
Nokia Creative - the first point of call for any serious camera-phone photographer (really)
Other stuff
Sizemore - love his stuff
That Canadian Girl - a buddy of mine
Jyri Engestrom - one of my industry heroes.
Al’s Blog - an actor mate of mine
She Makes War - good insight into the world of an up and coming musician
Screen Rant - movie news, innit
Over to you - what are your favourite date places? Can you recommend somewhere to relax away from the hustle of London living? We want to hear from you!
