It’s Day 1 of National Vegetarian Week on Monday (we blogged about it here recently), and to celebrate we took a look at some of the great communities springing up all over the internet catering for vegetarians and vegans.
VEG London (aka the London Veggie Events Group) is a free social group bringing vegetarians and vegans together for meals, trips and other events. Closely linked to London Vegans, who also promote veganism by running information stalls at fairs and festivals all around the country, recent events have included meals at Sagar and Indian Veg Bhelpoori House as well as a regular bookclub meetup.
Looking for a meat-free place to live? VegCom offers a space for vegetarians and vegans to list their accommodation wanted and offered ads throughout the UK and New Zealand. The UK branch has links to veggie communities up and down the land, including the particularly comprehensive Birmingham Vegetarians and Vegans site.
The plethora of interlinking sites show the friendly but formidable presence of vegetarians and vegans is definitely here to stay, with a deep sense of community and a passion for sharing information with the rest of the world. And that’s what we’re all about!

Confession: OK so i class myself as a ‘vegetarian’ BUT strictly that’s not so true. There’s room in my life and on my plate for fish too.
This vegetarian week caper is inspiring me to try something new and be nicer to my fishy friends too, so much so i may go the whole hog (or rather carrot) and be vegetarian in the true sense forever more… cheers to TrustedPlaces for bringing vegetarian week to my attention!
