It’s Nice To Be Trusted

Sokratis is out in California at the moment on a bit of a mission:

Web Mission 2008 will see 20 UK Web 2.0 companies travel to San Francisco to explore new opportunities for growth with key people in Silicon Valley. This event will showcase innovative UK web talent, seek meaningful assistance for companies ready for expansion, and provide a platform for those involved to gain valuable media and business exposure.

TrustedPlaces were very pleased to have made the grade and have the opportunity to take part in such an interesting event. Although TrustedPlaces is born and bred right here in London we value the opportunity to learn from all the cool companies in the Bay Area and share our own story. It’s also a great reminder that there are some excellent kick-ass companies right here in the UK. We’re in really good company on this trip :)

Closer to home we were flattered to see TrustedPlaces make it into The Times list of top ten travel websites. This follows an article exposing the fact that some travel guides can hardly be called trustworthy. While we never positioned ourselves as a travel website it’s gratifying to know that people from all around the world trust our community to point them in the right direction while they are traveling.

And if all that wasn’t enough TrustedPlaces was also voted number 4 in the Startups 100 - a list of the top 100 best new businesses in the UK.

We’re always very flattered by all this attention, but the occasional self-trumpet-blowing blog post aside we’ll just carry on doing what we really do best. Offering a place for our users to help each other. The accolades are great and much appreciated, but it’s the community that drives TrustedPlaces so thanks to ALL our users for helping us get this far.

You guys rock!

Hi there, I am trying to set up a review based website in Ireland and the community element seems to be the key to getting and keeping users. Your site looks brilliant I would really appreciate it if there is any words of advice you would be willing to share, especially with fostering the Community Element to the site?

Hopre to hear from you. Best,
    Helen Gaynor

Sorry for the late reply. We’ve had a problem with comments.
