Bean Fix

It’s just over a week since the clocks went forward, cruelly snatching sixty precious minutes of sleep in order to give us lighter mornings in to summertime. So, how are you coping? Are you bouncing out of bed every morning, excited at what the day will bring? Or are the only beans you’re full of small, brown and coffee flavoured?
At TrustedPlaces we’re familiar with those days when you may as well hook yourself up to a coffee drip and be done with it, and luckily you international lot know all the best places for us to go.
Oxford’s Queen’s Lane Coffee House has “efficient staff” and a “quaint atmosphere” according to DawgatOxford, who visited at Easter. If you’re in Orlando pop in to Stardust Video & Coffee, a video rental store with a lounge area where you can hang out, read and sup the bean at your leisure. Open mic nights and free concerts are to be avoided though, as according to psyanyde “they have a loose definition of music over there”.
To Paris, where bitter black coffee goes hand in hand with sweet pastries and mysterious glances and Les Deux Magots has provoked a lively debate amongst you reviewers. Gavroche takes offence at the prices, which at an “arm and a leg for an espresso” do seem a little high, but gastro1 disagrees, calling it “The Ultimate French Cafe”. Try it for yourself and let us know what you think!
Totnes might not be as well known for its hot beverages, but Terrace Coffee Shop is hitting the mark with “Very nice coffee in a funky riverside setting”, recently enjoyed by Boatfanatic. And where else in London are people enjoying but the marvellous Monmouth Coffee Company, where CharlotteEvett would “happily be fat in exchange for the quality of their coffee” (they use whole milk, you see).
Does your cosy local cafe serve the best coffee in town? When you walk in to order your half-fat-decaff-mocha-choca-latte-yaya do the staff smile in recognition? Come on bean freaks, share your TrustedPlaces! We look forward to finding out the best places for us to fill up that drip…
