A Real Rat Race

One place that probably ALL our London users have in common is the tube system, yet for some reason no one’s bothered to review it yet :) I put this down to the fact that all the reviews would probably say the same thing (“could do better”) plus we already have Annie Mole doing a first rate job on Going Underground. But when I heard about this window display in EC1 I knew I’d have to blog about it:

It’s a tube map made from real tubes, living in which are real rats.

And here they are in action:

Rat Race: a tiring and often competitive routine that leaves little time for contemplation or relaxation… Sound Familiar?

You can keep an eye on the rats via Facebook by going to Ratbook :) and you can read more about the installation here. Anyone seen these little guys in person yet?

Rats in tubes? ok that’s gross, but better than on the tube. I’m wondering if they have oyster cards and are subject to delays like the rest of us?…

    Hi Maz,

I’ve always found these little guys kinda cute. I guess little brown mice would have been more appropriate for the tube, but we do share the city with a lot of rats :)

Not sure about delays and Oyster cards, nut despite their reputation their tube looks way cleaner than ours… no piles of free newspapers lying around for a start!

    Thanks for the comment :)
