Free Movies

Of course we love pubs and restaurants, but there are still a lot of places out there that are unique or hard to pigeonhole and we’d love to see more of these places reviewed on TrustedPlaces. One of my favourite outdoor venues is The Scoop in SE1. Right on the Thames and nestled under the odd looking jam jar of a building that is City Hall. It’s the kind of place that many people walk right past unless something is going on there. It’s an interesting space in itself as the shape mimics the spiralling walkway found inside City Hall, and it’s often used by tourists as a place to rest as they explore the Pool of London.

If you haven’t been there then next month is the perfect time to check it out as it plays host to a series of FREE MOVIES. I’m a regular to events at The Scoop so I’ve added a little more background on the ‘venue’ here. There’s no ticket required and no need to book, simply turn up by 9ish and as long as the rain keeps off you’ll be treated to a great film between the 6th and 29th of June. The line up this year is The Italian Job, Thelma & Louise, Memento, Singing in the Rain (let’s hope not!), In the Heat of the Night (fingers crossed!), Glastonbury, Point Blank, Romeo & Juliet (the Claire Danes/Leonardo one), Volver, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Adventures of Pricilla Queen of the Desert and Monsoon Wedding!

The free films are actually a part of the larger More London Free Festival. Read more about everything that’s going on here and never let us hear again that you don’t venture south of the river!

And as we’re always looking for ways to mingle with you guys, do drop us a line in the comments below if you’d like us to arrange a meet-up around one of the events. We could catch up, watch a movie and then even grab a beer at one of the many TrustedPlaces nearby. Let us know!
