Brand New TrustedPlaces

After weeks and months of listening to your feedback we have now a brand new version of TrustedPlaces. What do you think? You’ll have noticed the new look and feel for sure, but if you look deeper you’ll find lots of new features.

Let’s go through a few of them.

The Taste Finder

Does what it says on the tin, but much more. You don’t just get a nice set of coloured bars to show you what you like and don’t like. You get much more than that. By completing the taste finder you can see how your tastes compare to other people on TrustedPlaces. The bar under their profile tells you if they’re a Bad Match, a Maybe or a Lost Twin who has the same tastes as you and likely to enjoy hanging in places you’ll like.
Find places more easily

You can do that by browsing different cities and areas within them, but also easily use other people’s experiences. When you’re in a specific place page you can now see what other places are nearby and what other places, people who liked this specific venue, liked.

Add content in two clicks

Found a place you’ve been to? Want to add your views? Easy! Just click on the been there button. You haven’t been, but would like to? Just add it to your ‘Want to go’ list in one simple click.

There are a few more for you to discover, like ways to personalise your pages, more space for you to tell us what your interests are and bit more about yourself.

This is just the start. To whet your appetite for new stuff to come here are some examples:

- Easier ways to create personalised lists e.g. Your Top 10 Bars in London or perhaps your Favourite Restaurants in the West End

- New and creative ways you can share your experiences

- Richer ways to develop your reviews

…and much more. Go on. Make a difference and tell us what you want…

I read about Trusted Places in an artlcle in today’s Travel Mole e-bulletin. I think that the Taste Finder is a really good idea in principle as a lot of user generated review are inevitably rather subjective. The Taste Finder is a simple way of guiding you to give more weight to the reviews of like minded people, rather than having to read through community members profiles and posts to judge if you would appreciate similar hotels, bars etc to them. I will try the Taste Finder now and see how it categorises me.

Thank you for your blog entry on TrustedPlaces. Indeed the Taste Finder is our first step in building a truly personal recommendation engine. Once you have completed it you will be able to see how your tastes compares to other members of TrustedPlaces. This will help you judge whether or not to trust this person’s recommendations. Very soon the Taste Finder will also be revealing more useful information to you… stay tuned ;-)
