Mash it Up
Went to the Mashup event last night. Got to see what Marc Canter’s People Aggregator looks like and all the great stuff you can do with Etribes. Quite a varied discussion, lots of interesting (and some slightly odd ;-)) questions from the audience – some very convincing, others not so, answers and comments from the panel. Interesting to see where BT is trying to go. They have made great steps from being just an incumbent to providing services for business and the home. However, the current leap of faith they’re taking with their new ‘voice will be free anyway soon, let’s just help the consumer communicate/get/use whatever they want through us’ strategy seems to be the most transformative change they’ve tried so far – depending on eventual adoption of course.
The person that was the most inspiring (sorry guys he was) during the event was Tariq Krim. What a nice, kind, intelligent guy. It’s so refreshing and inspiring (yes I repeat) when you meet someone who is really good at what he /she does, has loads of intellectual capacity and yet no arrogance or attitude associated with it. Really wish that he takes the $15M of funding that he recently got and turn Netvibes into a 100+ million company. It seems that they’ve got everything in place to make that happen.
