What are you top 5 bars?

I’ve asked a friend to help with testing the add review process by inputting some of his favourite places in London. OK, he’s just come back from 6 months of traveling, but he really struggled to come up with a short-list. I mean it was very difficult for him. You would think that he suffers from either really bad memory or has a very poor social life – I know the guy and neither is the case. This is quite encouraging in a way. It proves again, that most of us don’t easily remember where we go to have fun and which places we like most. Using trustedplaces as a social diary that is open to the world we can always remember, share our experiences and also draw inspiration from what other people do. We’d love hear your views and ideas on this, comments below please.

If it’s the Hole and his travels around Brazil you are referring to, then I can tell you that he’s as useless as a three-pence piece at remembering stuff. You see, it stems from his being dropped on his head as a baby. If it’s not the Hole you refer to, I apologize for the non-constructive comment! And I agree with your hypothesis - I often only really remember the name of the bar I went to last night, espcecially if it’s a new one, for a very short while - usually until I go to the next bar!

Yes, it must be the hole.. who’s turned out to be quite a dancer after his 6-month stunt in Brazil.. Experienced it first hand last weekend and I was left gob smacked..

Anyway, favourite places, I do remember some.. fav bars/clubs: Cargo, FavelaChic, Guanabara (although it’s getting too full too early these days).. restaurants: Souk / Souk Medina / Medea / a really nice pizzeria in Covent garden whose name I can no longer remember (yes, you got me there.. starts with an M) / Momo (good for an occasional mint tea and chill out afternoon - the restaurant was not too bad last time I’d been.. a bit on the pricey side though and the waiters can be quite.. well ‘French’!).

I really need to think of more.. the list is definitely not exhaustive and the memory is proving to be quite limited - and this is precisely why I think this will take off and reach gargantuan proportions!! (you like that word huh..)

Good luck guys! (I’ll be back…)

is it me? well there is some truth - i do have a terrible memory (consequence of my smokey years at university) and i did fall from a great height and hit my head as a small child (though was not dropped you will note). So there you go. Why I am here again?

But joking aside, this IS a very good idea and i will take immense delight in road-testing it with my very own Trusted Places. Look out London.

Just so that I can claim to have been at least some help - I really liked the restaurant 1492 in Fulham - they have a bar upstairs that makes excellent mojitos.

Guys, any good places you’d recommend for watching the final on Sunday? I was thinking French area (South Ken / Fulham) so we can hopefully celebrate in style (Allez Zizou!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - Niko, in addition to mojitos, do they does this place have a big screen?

Thank you all for your comments and the encouragement - please keep them coming we really appreciate it.

Niko - I look forward to seeing your review ;-)
Buraco - now we understand, thank you.
Mez - not ready for the world cup I’m afraid, but soon you’ll be able to ask exactly those question through a discussion forum or search for places that people have tagged as beeing good places to watch football. Sweet, isnt’t it?

    Keep on posting!
